ANIMAL TISSUES (EPITHELIAL TISSUE)

PROPERTIES OF ANIMALS 

• MULTICELLULARITY
• HETEROTROPHS (DEPENDS UPON OTHER ORGANISMS FOR FOOD)
• HOLOZOIC (COMPLETE DIGESTION PROCESS)

TISSUES : Group of similar cells and common organs and each are perforning a specific function.

TYPES OF TISSUES 

1. Epithelium tissue - Protection and covering
2. Connective tissue - Support and linkage
3. Muscular tissue - Locomotion and movement 
4. Nervous tissue - Control and coordination

NOTE: HISTOLOGY IS MICROSCOPIC STUDY OF TISSUE

EPITHELIAL TISSUES 

• Avascular (Absence of blood vessel)
• high regeneration
• Cells are compactly packed with little intercellular MATRIX

NOTE: MATRIX = GLYCOPROTEIN AND MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDES

BASEMENT MEMBRANE

• Acellular ,It consist of glycoproteins and Mucopolysccharides,also FIBRES.
• A supporting structure with the help of which Nutrient,oxygen etc is supptied from connective tissues towards Epithelium 

TYPES OF EPITHELIUM TISSUES 

1. Simple Epithelium tissue (single layer of cells)
2. Compound Epithelium tissue (Multilayer tissue)

Simple Epithelium Tissues are further divided in Five types 

1. Simple Squamous Epithelium (PAVEMENT EPITHELIUM)
2. Simple cuboidal Epithelium tissue
3. Simple columnar  Epithelium tissue
4. Pseudostratified Epithelium tissue
5. Glandar Epithelium

SIMPLE SQUAMOUS EPITHELIUM 

• It appears smooth as tiles on floor 
• it is also known as Pavement Epithelium 

SIMPLE CUBOIDAL EPITHELIUM 

1. Smooth simple coboidal Epithelium

 Function : Absorbtion 
   Example :Thyroid Follicles , DCT , Testis ,Ovary

   

      2.Ciliated Cuboidal Epithelium                                                                                                                 Function : Movement 

Example : smaller bronchioles 

     3.Brush-Borderd Cuboidal Epithelium 

  Function: Secretion and Absorption

Example : Microvilli , PCT

SIMPLE COLUMNAR EPITHELIUM

1. Smooth Surface Columnar tissue 

 The columnar epithelium is composed of a single layer of tall and slender cells. Their nuclei are located at the base. Free surface may have microvilli. They are found in the lining of stomach and intestine and help in secretion and absorption

     2. CILIATED COLUMNAR EPITHILIAM TISSUE 

Columnar or cuboidal cells bear cilia on their free surface they are called ciliated epithelium . Their function is to move particles or mucus in a specific direction over the epithelium.

    

     3.BRUSH-BORDERED COLUMNAR 

They are mainly present in the inner surface of hollow organs like bronchioles and fallopian tubes.
